Extravagant Color + Chic + Animal Love + Whimsical Humor pervade the large avant garde oil paintings of KAT ROMINE
My passion for Designer clothing began with the clothes my mother made for my Barbie dolls and herself! Later my mother directed Theater and created the costumes-which were so outstanding they were leased by professional stage companies. My creativity is a gift from her.
A self-taught artist from an early age, I inadvertently started selling paintings hanging in my home, leading to commissioning large portrait paintings of children, pets, and Georgia O’Keeffe-style flowers.
From 2015 I owned an Art Gallery with atelier called KATS MEOW SONOMA on the square in beautiful Sonoma, California. During this time, in addition to still life, abstract and enormous flower paintings -the animal paintings led to a mixed huge draw for people seeking portraits of their pets. Seeing the excitement these paintings of much-loved dogs and cats brought was wonderful!
I am a world traveler, and in 2018 wanderlust was calling. My partner and I left for Europe and settled in Cognac, France remodeling an ancient home in the heart of the city. I showed my work in a lovely gallery in the heart of town, but after three years, the lack of sunshine tore me away and brought me to the glory of Coronado.
Here- I am able to paint outdoors every day – Fine Art that makes you smile.
Showing now in a collection at Emerald C Gallery – using a perfect California sky blue backdrop, my subjects are dressed in Designer Clothing and ready to lunch by the pool at the Del.
