Gary Kyte lives and works in Upstate, New York, where he has painted for the last several years. Disarmingly simple at first glance, his paintings evoke a sense of serenity and solitude with a connection to the surreal. They hint at deep undercurrents of history and story.
Kyte paints as the old masters did, on a darkened canvas, and from dark to light colors. His paintings have an intense richness that alternates between deep shadows and sunlit highlights. This range of color creates a glow and the appearance that light is generated from within the canvas.
Found in collections all over the world, Gary’s work is now found in the permanent collection of the Burchfield Penney Art Gallery in Buffalo NY.
